Professor Orkin's lecture will be based on mental health and development at the 2023 TIME Annual Lecture on December 6th at 6.30pm in the Long Room Hub.
Orkin’s research expertise lies in the domains of labor, public, behavioral, and development economics, where she studies market failures or patterns in decision-making that prevent people in low- and middle- income countries from finding work or improving their earnings over time. Orkin collaborates closely with NGOs and governments to develop new interventions geared towards tackling these market failures, and tests the interventions in large-scale field experiments.
