Each year, the Department of Economics welcomes visiting students from around the world who join us for one semester or a full academic year. Visiting students are encouraged to explore a wide range of undergraduate Economics modules and experience academic life at Trinity College Dublin.

Available Modules

Visiting students may take any undergraduate Economics module from Junior Fresh (1st Year), Senior Fresh (2nd Year), Junior Sophister (3rd Year), or Senior Sophister (4th Year), with the exception of the following:

  • ECU11011 & ECU11012: Introduction to Economics A & B
  • ECU11021 & ECU11022: Mathematics and Statistics A & B 

Module outlines and further information are available on the School of Social Sciences and Philosophy website. Students should consult the module timetable for details on class times and locations. Please note that the timetable is subject to change during the first few weeks of term.

Credits (ECTS)

  • Junior Fresh, Senior Fresh, and Junior Sophister modules: 5 ECTS each
  • Senior Sophister modules: 5 or 10 ECTS 

Module Registration

Module Registration forms will only be signed during the office hours of the School of Social Sciences and Philosophy coordinators. These forms will not be signed during the welcome meeting or outside scheduled hours.

Academic Requirements

Visiting students are expected to meet the same academic requirements as Trinity students, including coursework and examinations.
