On 14 February, Professor Nathan Hill represented the Trinity Centre for Asian Studies (TCAS) at a vibrant Chinese New Year celebration jointly organised by the Embassy of Malaysia and the Malaysian diaspora in Ireland.

The event highlighted Malaysia’s rich and diverse traditions, reflecting the multicultural dimensions of Asian societies that TCAS seeks to explore through its research and teaching. Guests enjoyed an energetic lion dance performance that brought rhythm and colour to the occasion, followed by the traditional yee sang prosperity toss, a symbolic act representing unity, good fortune, and prosperity for the year ahead.

The celebration provided a valuable opportunity for engagement between the Malaysian community, the wider Irish public, and academic partners, underscoring TCAS’s commitment to fostering dialogue, cultural exchange, and deeper understanding of Asia within Ireland.

As we welcome the Year of the Horse, TCAS extends its warmest wishes for a year filled with strength, vitality, and new opportunities for collaboration and scholarship.
