HISTLING Exchange, hosted by the Trinity Centre for Asian Studies, is an interdisciplinary event that brings together philologists, computational linguists, and scholars of religious studies to offer a comprehensive investigation into the future of Buddhist philology in the age of digital humanities and AI research. The event’s workshops highlight understudied corpora with which pioneering research in digital humanities is currently being conducted. Specific attention will be given to the ways in which newly-developed AI methods can enable new research horizons for those in the Humanities. The main workshops will run for four consecutive days (Monday – Thursday), while the fifth day will consist of a morning roundtable discussion on AI in Buddhist philology and a one-time workshop on AI-assisted textual scholarship in the afternoon.

The event is catered to those interested in any field involving the digital analysis of corpora. Presenters and roundtable participants include a multidisciplinary team of researchers from the fields of philology, computer science, Buddhist studies, and linguistics. The HISTLING Exchange is open to everyone of all education levels and backgrounds. The event will also provide a great opportunity for networking for those researching Buddhist studies, computational linguistics, and digital humanities.
