On 12 Wednesday 22 April 2026, Trinity College Dublin welcomed a delegation from Shanghai Jiao Tong University to the Provost’s House, led by President Ding Kuiling, the current President of SJTU. The visit reflected an established connection between the two universities in engineering and international education: Trinity has an engineering link with the University of Michigan–Shanghai Jiao Tong University Joint Institute, and SJTU Global College includes Trinity among its international partner universities. At Trinity, the delegation met Provost Linda Doyle, Professor Sylvia Draper, Dean of the Faculty of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, Professor Anil Kokaram, Head of the School of Engineering, and Professor Nathan Hill, Director of the Trinity Centre for Asian Studies. The SJTU delegation also included Professor Hesheng Wang, Dean of SJTU Global College, and Professor Gu Guoying, Dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering.
