Submissions
Submitting to the Student Economic Review is a unique opportunity to have your work published in one of Trinity’s most prestigious student-led journals - one of the few of its kind in Europe. It’s a notable achievement at undergraduate level and a valuable addition to any CV. All students who submit are invited to the official launch, where published essays will also be eligible for a number of awards and prizes. If you’re interested in contributing, please read below for full details.
Before submitting an essay, please follow the instructions below carefully. Submissions that do not meet the guidelines may not be considered for publication.
Before You Submit
- Use the Essay Template:
Essays must follow the official SER template. Please read and apply the style guidelines before submitting. - Submit as a Word Document:
Essays must be submitted in Microsoft Word format. PDF submissions will not be accepted. - Referencing:
Follow the referencing instructions carefully. Essays that do not comply will be returned or excluded. - Anonymity:
Essays are marked anonymously. Do not include your name anywhere in the document. - Word Count:
The ideal word count is under 2,500 words. Essays up to 3,000 words may be considered, but anything longer must be edited before submission. - Include Contact Details:
Please include your phone number, email address, and College standing (JF/SF/JS/SS/Socrates) in your submission - but not in the body of the essay. - Plagiarism Checks:
All essays will be checked for plagiarism using Turnitin. Please ensure all work is your own. - Editorial Discretion:
The SER editorial team reserves the right to edit submissions for style, grammar, spelling, factual accuracy, and language.
How to Submit Your Essay
Essays must be submitted through the ‘Student Economic Review’ module on Blackboard. You must first self-enrol in the module to access the submission link.
How to Register for the Module
- Go to Blackboard
- Log in using your College username and password
- Search for Student Economic Review in the Module Search Box
- Click on the module name
- Select + Enrol from the menu on the left
- Click OK
If you don’t see the module content right away, try logging out and back in
Submitting Your Essay
- Go to the SER-Module in your Blackboard module list
- Click on Submissions 2024 in the blue menu
- Submit your essay via the Turnitin link (all essays will be checked for plagiarism)
Additional Notes
- Submissions are accepted from students in all undergraduate years.
- At least two Senior Freshman and five Junior Sophister essays will be selected for publication.
- If you're considering applying for Scholarship ('Schol'), submitting to the SER is a great way to practise and develop your essay-writing skills.
