HI7111 Contemporary Irish History (Research Seminar)

Assessment: This is a pass/fail module assessed on the basis of regular attendance at seminars and regular completion of seminar reports.

Students attend a variety of seminars in order to obtain as broad a perspective as possible on current research methods, debates and discoveries in modern Irish history. Weekly seminars allow students to engage with and reflect on the diversity of academic approaches to research and to consider the variety of modes of presentation and discourse, including witness seminars.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this module students should be able to:

  • appraise a wide range of relevant academic research
  • engage in discussion and analysis of research sources and outcomes
  • note and reflect on diverse academic presentations and commentary
