Ian Mathews, Chief Financial Officer

Ian Mathews became Treasurer in 2009 having held a number of senior positions in the Financial Services Division during his 16 years in Trinity. Ian is a statutory officer of Trinity and a key member of the University's senior management team, contributing at the highest levels of the Trinity leadership structure. He is accountable to the Board and Provost for all aspects of the direction and management of the University’s financial affairs.

As Treasurer, Ian is charged with providing a robust financial foundation on which to construct and successfully deliver ambitious academic and corporate objectives through the development, articulation, communication and review of financial strategies. Key tasks include: reporting the financial position and performance of Trinity; evaluating and advising on the financial implications of proposals and plans; developing alternative financial strategies to support policy decisions; advising in regard to the financing of capital developments.

Ian qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Pricewaterhouse-Coopers in Dublin and holds a B.Comm degree, a Diploma in Professional Accounting and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.

Louise Ryan, Deputy Chief Financial Officer

Louise Ryan was appointed as Deputy Chief Financial Officer/Director of Financial Services in the Financial Service Division (FSD) in May 2014, having previously held the position of Director in KPMG Restructuring since May 2010. As a member of the FSD senior management team tasked with achieving the University’s strategic objectives, Louise is principally responsible for the management of the operations of the Financial Services Division, reporting the financial position and performance of the University as well as leading out on strategic initiatives. Louise reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer.

Louise qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG, holds a B.B.S. from Trinity College and is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland.

Deirdre Savage, Director of Financial Planning & Risk Management

Deirdre Savage was appointed Director of Financial Planning & Risk Management in 2014 having held a number of key positions in the Financial Services Division during her career in Trinity. As a member of the FSD senior management team tasked with achieving the University’s strategic objectives, Deirdre is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of an effective planning and analysis capability that will provide Trinity with the appropriate analytical tools to establish goals and measure performance. Deirdre routinely communicates financial and operational performance trends (historical and forecasted) and outlines movements, risk analysis, required actions and strategic implications to the relevant Univeristy Committees. In addition, she is tasked with the oversight and review of all FSD external and internal communications through the Service Liaison Officer. Deirdre reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer.

Deirdre qualified as a Certified Accountant in 1997 and is a Fellow of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland.

Áine Mulcahy, Finance Operations Manager

Áine was appointed by the Financial Services Division in 2004. Prior to joining the University, Áine was the Finance Director for Usit Ireland. As a member of the FSD management team tasked with achieving the University’s strategic objectives, Áine is principally responsible for the management of Accounts Payable, Taxation and Accounts Receivable. Áine qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Pricewaterhouse-Coopers in Dublin and holds a B.Comm degree, a Masters of Accounting and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.

Ben Hartnett, Procurement Manager

Ben was appointed by the Financial Services Division in 1999. Prior to joining Trinity, Ben worked Hewlett-Packard and ALPS Electric.  As a member of the FSD management team tasked with achieving the University’s strategic objectives, Ben is principally responsible for the management of all TCD procurement activities, including sourcing, purchasing and supplier management. Ben qualified in Business Studies (Marketing), holds a Masters in Public Procurement and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and supply.

David O'Shea, Projects Accounting Manager (Capital and Research)

David was appointed by the Financial Services Divsion in 2008. As a member of the FSD management team tasked with achieving the University’s strategic objectives, David is primarily tasked with managing Trinity’s post award financial administration of its Research and Capital project’s portfolio. David qualified as a Chartered Accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Dublin and holds BCL and LL.M degrees, a Diploma in Business Studies and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.

Eimear Farrell, Management & Financial Accounting Manager

Eimear was appointed by the Financial Services Division in 2014. Prior to joining Trinity, Eimear held a number of positions which have encompassed the treasury, fund accounting and leasing industries. As a member of the FSD management team tasked with achieving the University’s strategic objectives, Eimear is principally responsible for the management of the General Ledger and all aspects of Financial and Management reporting.  Eimear is a qualified Management Accountant and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.

Keith Creedon, Financial Planning & Risk Manager

Keith was appointed by the Financial Services Division in 2005. Prior to joining Trinity, Keith worked across a range of industries ranging from health insurance to technology start-ups. As a member of the FSD management team tasked with achieving the University’s strategic objectives, Keith is principally responsible for the management of Trinity’s financial planning and forecasting. Keith is a qualified Management Accountant and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. He holds a B.Comm degree and an MBA.

Paul Coote, Project Appraisal Manager

Paul was appointed by the Financial Services Division in 2008. Prior to joining Trinity, Paul held the role of Head of Finance in JCDecaux Ireland. As a member of the FSD management team tasked with achieving the University’s strategic objectives, Paul is principally responsible for producing timely, accurate and relevant project appraisal and assessment information required for strategic and operational decision making. Paul qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Pricewaterhouse-Coopers in Dublin and holds a B.Comm degree, a Diploma in Professional Accounting and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.
