Trinity College is situated within the catchment area of St. James's Hospital which is a main teaching hospital of Trinity College, Faculty of Health Science, www.stjames.ie.

Public Hospital Charges

Attendance at Hospital Accident Department without a referral letter normally carries a fee of €100 (for initial visit). There is, however an exemption of charges for Medical Card holders, European Students with European Health Cards, N.I and G.B students.

Daily public hospital in-patient charges are €60 per day up to a maximum of €600 in a year. Again, there is an exemption of charges for Medical Cards holders, European students with European Health Cards.

Please note that all Northern American students and other international students (ie. Those other than E.U. and U.K. students) may face heavy levies unless they are ordinarily residents in Ireland for one year or more. Students here for less than one year arere strongly advised to have made provision for adequate medical insurance prior to arriving in Ireland.
