Literary Encounters: Forgery, Objects, and Meaning

Brendan O'Connell (English) explores how textual criticism and the art of literary forgery overlap in surprising ways, as forgers have drawn on scholarship to make their fakes more convincing, in turn compelling textual and literary scholars to develop ever sharper methodologies; while Melissa Alexander (English) addresses how objects can serve as conversation pieces that not only unite diverse thinkers through conversations that span centuries, but also encapsulates modern aspirations for relationality.
