Authorship and Authority: Making Testament

Composer Tarik O’Regan in conversation with Dr Evangelia Rigaki, School of Creative Arts, organised by the Music Composition Centre seminar series.

Tarik O'Regan will be speaking about the making of Testament, his new opera with a libretto by Colm Tóibín, adapted from Tóibín’s novella The Testament of Mary.
The conversation will explore the process of transforming an intensely interior work for the operatic stage, the shifting roles of writer, composer and performer, and the opera’s own preoccupation with who has the authority to shape memory into narrative.
