Islamic Art in Ireland - Teaching, Curating, Researching

Date: 09 Jun - 09 Jun 2025
Time: 09:15 - 17:00
Venue: Neill Lecture Theatre, Trinity Long Room Hub

A one day conference organised by the Department of History of Art and Architecture, Trinity College Dublin and supported by the Higher Education Authority and with thanks to Trinity Research Development Office.

Ireland holds a small but significant collection of Islamic art — from ceramics, ivories, metalwork, textiles, and glass to manuscripts and furniture — dispersed across national collections. While the Chester Beatty is well known, many works remain less familiar. This free, public symposium brings together a growing community of curators, researchers, artists, students, conservators and enthusiasts for a day of invited talks and discussion on Islamic art in Ireland. All are welcome, no booking required.
