Fail Worse: Rethinking Narrative Redemption in Failure Studies

Date: 29 May - 30 May 2025
Time: 09:00 - 16:00
Venue: Neill Lecture Theatre, Trinity Long Room Hub

An international symposium on non-redemptive failure across the humanities and social sciences, organised by the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultural Studies and the School of Creative Arts.

Please register here.

This international symposium will bring together scholars from across the humanities and social sciences working on failure who seek to find alternative narrative modes of speaking about the subject to the dominant redemptive lens. Rather than seeing failure as a stepping stone to success, a moral victory, or a learning moment worth suffering, participants will ask who gets to tell (and be heard telling) stories of failure—and how.
