Chronotope of the Road”: Toward Spatial-Temporal Dimensions of the Dramaturgy of Migration

A seminar by Dr Yana Meerzon ( University of Ottawa) as part of the School of Creative Arts Research Forum.

Bio

Yana Meerzon is Professor of Theatre Studies at the University of Ottawa. She is the author of three books, most recently Performance, Subjectivity, Cosmopolitanism (Palgrave Macmillan, 2020). She co-edited seven collections of articles, including Migration and Stereotypes in Performance and Culture (Palgrave Macmillan, 2020; with David Dean and Daniel McNeil). This book is a recipient of the Patrick O’Neill 2022 Award, honorable mention, with Canadian Association for Theatre Research (CATR). Her current research project is entitled ‘Between Migration and Neo-Nationalism(s): Performing the European Nation — Playing a Foreigner,’ which has been funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC).

Meerzon’s latest book The Palgrave Handbook of Theatre and Migration (co-edited with Steve Wilmer) will be featured in a symposium in the Trinity Long Room Hub on Friday 16 Feb from 4 pm.

The School of Creative Arts Research Forum meets weekly on Mondays from 10am-11am in the Neill Lecture Theatre in Trinity Long Room Hub. The aim of the Forum is to provide a space for School researchers, both staff and postgraduate students, to share their ideas in an informal and supportive environment. It is also an opportunity for the School to hear about the research of colleagues both from within TCD and from outside the university who share our research interests. In line with the research agenda of the School, talks encompass traditional research and practice-based research.
