Transitions
Embedded within a life course perspective, the research theme of transitions focuses on changes in role and status for the individual with ID at different stages across their life.
Given the policy focus on de-institutionalization of people with ID with movement to smaller community based settings, a primary focus of the transitions research theme is the housing mobility of older people with an intellectual disability, including the process of transition, involvement of the individual with ID in the transition and outcomes of transition, tracked longitudinally.
Related life transitions in work, education, relationships and health care utilization in addition to transitions at end of life, are captured within this research theme.
