Plants Fantastic – tales of innovation and evolution at Trinity College Botanic Garden
Trinity College Dublin Discipline of Botany are delighted to invite you to celebrate Culture Night 2025 at Trinity College Botanic Garden with a guided exploration of the amazing world of plants. This is a great opportunity to learn the history of this unique teaching, research and conservation facility and see the diverse collection of plants from around the world. Trinity’s botanists will regale you with stories about the fascinating lives of plants, how they have innovated, evolved and adapted in sometimes extreme environments, and what they can teach us about the atmosphere we all inhabit.
Meet the ‘Witness Trees’ and hear how they absorb vital climate change information through their leaves; learn how insect-eating plants can have their pollinators, and eat them too! Plus, see other amazing plants older than the dinosaurs and hear how they survived extinction.
Tour numbers will be limited due to space constraints, so please register early, and remember: if you change your mind, please release your space for someone else.
If you prefer, you may wander the Garden at your own pace using our printed guides. There is an arboretum with many mature trees, a sheltered walled garden, and several glasshouses with plants from tropical cloud forests and arid deserts; there are quiet places to sit and a sensory trail which can be followed by accessing the Garden’s website.
Whichever way you choose to enjoy it, Trinity College Botanic Garden welcomes you on Culture Night.
