About the Project
JUDGEASSIST considers the impact of AI tools used by judges to assist with their judicial decision-making, and how to develop this technology appropriately. The project will create a robust, multidisciplinary framework for generating principles to guide the development of these tools, and then operationalise these principles through technical standards to guide the development of specific AI tools in specific judicial contexts. The aim is to ensure that this technology is only introduced when judges, legal practitioners, and the public trust them, accept them, and believe the judicial processes in which they operate are procedurally just.
