About the Project

The DOLI project (Dignity and the Deprivation of Liberty) investigates the lived experience of dignity within three distinct custodial and care settings: prisons, psychiatric hospitals, and residential care homes for older persons. While dignity resides at the core of human rights law, current legal frameworks often exclude the perspectives of those most vulnerable to its violation. DOLI seeks to rectify this by centralising the voices of individuals in Ireland, Norway, and Romania.
