LL.M. (General)

I chose to relocate from the UK to complete my LLM at Trinity College Dublin, and I would do it all again in a heartbeat!

Trinity is located in the centre of Dublin, making commuting and heading out into town easy for everyone. The Law School goes out of its way to make sure you have plenty of opportunity to meet new friends, even at Postgrad level, regularly hosting drinks events at nearby pubs or encouraging attendance at academic events. This makes you feel like you're really a part of something and provides an easy atmosphere to discuss any concerns about your course.

Within my LLM study, I had a huge range of module choices, ranging from Refugee Law, to Aviation Law, to Commercial Litigation. While the LLM pathway you select does narrow this scope, the Law School is happy and flexible to accommodate your requests. This really provides an incredible opportunity to create a year of study that is truly tailored to you and your own academic goals.

Trinity College Dublin is everything I expected it to be and more, and I couldn't recommend it enough to anyone thinking of joining, even if only for a year!

"Studying law at Trinity College Dublin has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. From the beginning, I felt welcomed by an environment that encouraged open discussion and mutual respect. Meeting people from all over the world helped me see law through many different lenses, both inside and outside the classroom.

The academic side of the program was truly engaging. The courses were well-organized, and the classes made me think more critically about legal problems. Our lecturers were not only knowledgeable but also easy to talk to. They were supportive and genuinely interested in our progress.

What made this experience even more special was the community. Whether through academic events or casual meetups, I met people who inspired me and made me feel part of something bigger. I’m walking away from this year not only with stronger legal skills but also with memories and connections that I’ll carry with me for years to come."

LL.M Intellectual Property and Information Technology Law

I came to learn of Trinity's reputation and history in the study of Law during my first visit to the campus in 2018. Then, I was a newly qualified lawyer from the Philippines and had no background experience. I told myself that I aimed to study in such a prestigious university as Trinity. However, I was in a dilemma as to what field of postgraduate law to study.

Trinity for me has the best of both worlds; it speaks volumes about Ireland's academic history, preserving the Irish culture and infrastructure while also coping with industrialization, being at the heart of Dublin.

With the Philippine law practice also coping with the advancement of tech, I knew I had to pursue my postgraduate degree, and I knew Trinity was the place for me.

Looking further, the TCD website was very informative. It gave me a clear view of the field that I am very interested in pursuing: Intellectual Property and Information Technology Law.

To be honest, my expertise and practice are nowhere near that field. But I knew one thing for sure: this field will bridge the gap in knowledge that I could not gain anywhere else but Trinity.

As a foreign student, I expected it to be difficult to process admissions, notwithstanding the challenges of visa applications. But the School of Law was such a blessing; not only did they swiftly respond to my inquiries, they guided me and even accommodated schedule difficulties due to visa concerns.

Being admitted to Trinity, I came in with an open mind. And it has been such a great experience, from being educated by top-notch professors and invited guest lecturers who are experts in their fields to participating in seminars and talks from Ireland's and ahe EU's Intellectual Property offices, which would not have been possible had it not been for Trinity.

The cherry on top is the cultural diversity that I have experienced in each and every class with classmates from all over the globe. Such is a testament to Trinity's prestige as Ireland's No. 1 university.
