Facing a panel of 20 people from the field of international humanitarian law, the teams had to propose solutions to resolve humanitarian problems caused by a fictitious conflict simulation. Using their knowledge of international humanitarian law, they had to propose ways to regulate weapons as well as solutions to protect civilians, healthcare infrastructure, and cultural property.
We extend our congratulations to our winners, Daragh Dunne, Conor O’Dempsey, and Conor Metcalfe, and to all the students who took part in it, as Deirdre Garvey, secretary general of the Irish Red Cross, said, “It is crucially important that our future lawyers, barristers and law experts understand and promote international humanitarian law.”
