A Global Perspective on Constitutional Change
The afternoon is structured around two key thematic panels, designed to foster deep comparative analysis of how different legal systems grapple with the recognition of marriage rights.
Panel 1: Comparing Marriage Equality in Ireland and the US (14:00 – 15:30) This session will examine the parallel yet distinct paths taken by Ireland and the United States. Following the landmark 2015 referendum in Ireland and pivotal Supreme Court rulings in the US, the panel will discuss the socio-legal implications of these changes.
Panel 2: The Hydraulics of Constitutional Change in India (15:45 – 17:15) This panel will focus on the unique "hydraulics" of the Indian legal system, examining recent judicial developments and the ongoing constitutional dialogue regarding marriage equality in India.
