The Law School is recruiting an Assistant Professor

• Contribute to teaching and related activities in the School and College at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
• Willingness and ability to teach core undergraduate modules in Equity, Land Law or other area of private law as required and develop and deliver postgraduate taught modules – Essential.
• Delivery of high-class teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels - Essential
• Contribute to building an active individual and collaborative international research record in private law, including PhD supervision and publications - Essential
• Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students at undergraduate Capstone/postgraduate Dissertation/Doctoral level - Essential
• Carry out such administrative duties relating to teaching as shall be directed by the Head of the School of Law - Essential

• Engage in research both on an individual and collaborative basis - Essential
• Expectations in terms of numbers and calibre of publications will be in line with the Assistant Professor grade and point on scale – Essential
• Capacity to work as part of a team in a respectful and collaborative manner – Essential

• Contribute to the School’s teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
• Contribute to published research output in journals of high standing.
• Carry out such administrative duties as shall be directed by the Head of the School of Law.
• Contribute towards the future development of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
• Assume a leadership role within the School of Law, appropriate to the level of appointment.

• Excellent academic record and have completed or be very close to completion of a Ph.D. in Law

The successful candidate will be expected to clearly demonstrate the following:

Teaching, Research & Scholarship

• Proven ability or evidence of potential and willingness to contribute to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate modules in areas of private law, particularly core undergraduate modules such as Equity and Land Law.
• Experience of supervising undergraduate and/or postgraduate dissertations is desirable.
• Experience of using a range of teaching media and innovative teaching methods.
• Proven ability or evidence of potential to establish a strong record of research and publications in the field of law specified above.

Administration, Contribution to University and Engagement with Discipline & Society

• Ability to work effectively and diligently as a member of a team of academic and professional staff colleagues.
• Ability to undertake administrative responsibilities as required by the School and University.
• Ability to collaborate with colleagues at an interdisciplinary level and to participate at School, Faculty and College levels.

Skills

• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
• Organisational skills necessary to the performance of teaching, research and administration requirements of the role of Assistant Professor.
