The School of English is delighted to announce that the Fitzroy Pyle M.Phil. Bursary for 2025-6 has been awarded to Róisín Ní Neachtain.
Professor William Fitzroy Pyle (1907-89) was a central figure in the Department of English at Trinity College Dublin, and a scholar of Renaissance English Literature, with a particular interest in Shakespeare and Milton. The Fitzroy Pyle M.Phil Bursary is supported by his family in his honour.
Róisín Ní Neachtain is a professional writer and artist living in Kildare and is the author of three poetry collections – her first independently published collection is forthcoming with Broken Sleep Books. Her work has placed and been shortlisted in a number of competitions. In her painting practice, she has been mentored by Brian Maguire and exhibited nationally. Róisín is currently studying for the M.Phil. in Irish Writing.
Róisín says: “This bursary has made such a huge difference to my life and I very much feel the privilege of it and hope that I will do it justice, so to speak, in my studies. I am so grateful to the School of English and the Pyle family.”
