Biography

Graduated from the University of Khartoum. Obtained a Master degree followed by PhD degree from the University of Manchester. Obtained a Fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (FDSRCSI) and an intercollegiate fellowship in Restorative Dentistry (FFDRCSI Rest Dent) after having successfully completed an SAC (UK and Ireland) approved five year higher training pathway in Restorative dentistry during 1995-1999. Research interests include dental materials, root canal anatomy, Implantology and maxillofacial rehabilitation and restorative dental oncology. Examiner, Royal College of surgeons in Ireland since October 2000. Previous examiner in the intercollegiate/exit fellowship in Restorative Dentistry during 2009-2013. Member of the Board of the Faculty of Dentistry RCSI 2008-2015, 2017 to date Formerly Vice Dean, Faculty of Dentistry, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland April 2013- May 2015) and Director of Continuing Dental Education, Dublin Dental University Hospital (May 2005-October 2010). Currently works as Associate Professor/Consultant in Restorative Dentistry and the Chief RCSI Examiner of the Faculty of Dentistry Examination Centre, Khartoum, Sudan Internal and External examiner for MSc, Clinical Doctorate (D Ch Dent) and PhD degrees, Universities of Dublin, Khartoum and Alrabat (Sudan) External examiner to undergraduate dental students in the universities of Alneelain, Rabat and Nile College in Sudan Internal examiner to undergraduate dental students in the University of Dublin Appointed as Acting Head of Department of Restorative Dentistry, Dublin Dental University Hospital in numerous occasions Currently works as Head of Division of Restorative Dentistry and Periodontology, Dublin Dental university Hospital, Ireland Published in regional and international dental periodicals in the areas of restorative dental materials, cavity preparation, root canal anatomy and restorative oncology Refereed articles for a number of local and international journals Member of: The International Association of Dental research (IADR) American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID) Prosthodontic Society of Ireland (PSI) Health Informatics Society, Ireland International Society for Maxillofacial Rehabilitation (ISMR) Royal Academy of Medicine in Ireland, Odontological Section (RAMI)
