Trinity scientists and clinicians are at the forefront of the drive to understand some of the most challenging diseases prevalent in an ageing population, including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and Motor Neurone Disease. We’re working to identify causes, improve our defences and ultimately, discover cures. Inspiring Generations will support a range of research projects.
The two flagship projects are TILDA (The Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing) and the Global Brain Health Institute (GBHI) established in 2015 with a joint grant of $138.4m from The Atlantic Philanthropies to Trinity and the University of California, San Francisco. The goal of GBHI is to train 600 leaders from around the globe dedicated to protecting the world’s ageing populations from threats to brain health.
