Obituary

Graham Dalton graduated with a degree in Philosophy and Psychology from Trinity College Dublin in 1973. Graham was born in County Antrim on 14 December 1949.

In the mid-1970s, a few years after graduating from Trinity College, Graham moved to Paris, where he worked as an English language coach to various professionals in the business community. During that time, he was also a member of the Sri Chinmoy Centre. This meditation group based itself on the philosophy of Indian Guru Sri Chinmoy. In 1981, Graham moved to New York City, where he spent the rest of his life. For a while, Graham worked as a waiter until he settled upon work in his hair salon. Graham was a very personal, exuberant and quick-witted individual who, for a dialectic of delight, quoted Shakespeare, Milton, Lao Tsu, Baudelaire, as well as Joni Mitchell, Cyndi Lauper and Mae West.

Outside his normal work hours, Graham devoted himself to his spiritual pursuits in the Sri Chinmoy Centre, based in New York City, along with his passion for swimming, running and music. His life was a quest for art, love beauty, truth and the perfect cappuccino. Graham was not married and had no children. He is survived by his sister Patricia and four nieces, Caroline, Katherine, Sarah and Sinead who all live in Ireland.
