The Trinity Long Room Hub takes its name from the iconic 'Long Room' in the Old Library and as a research institute is committed to promoting research on the Library's unique printed collections, manuscripts and archives through its public programmes and by enabling supported research through the prestigious Visiting Research Fellowship scheme.

The Library of Trinity College Dublin dates back to the establishment of the university in 1592 and is the largest library in Ireland. Today it has over seven million printed volumes with extensive collections of journals, manuscripts, maps, music, and electronic resources reflecting over 400 years of academic development.

The Library is a core partner represented through the Trinity Long Room Hub and is an active member of the Trinity Centre for the Book, which launched in 2023 and grew out of the longstanding Trinity research theme in Manuscript, Book and Print Culture. Hosted by the Trinity Long Room Hub, it is the first research centre devoted to writing, reading and book-related culture on the island of Ireland.
