Courtroom Interpretation and Uneven Bilingualism in Wales and the Republic of Ireland
The School of Law is organising a second event in their seminar series funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council. In this event, we will explore uneven bilingualism – where a person is significantly more fluent in one language than another - and how those with uneven bilingualism experience and are provided for by courtroom interpretation in Ireland and Wales.
The seminar brings together experts in the fields of law, linguistics, medicine and psychology to speak about language acquisition and loss and to develop a better understanding of language as a fair trial issue (and what this means), language as an equality issue, and language as a freedom of expression entitlement.
Please indicate if you have any access requirements, such as ISL/English interpreting, so that we can facilitate you in attending this event. Contact: roisin.acostello@tcd.ie
