You’ll also gain hands-on skills in video creation and editing inspired by the pioneering techniques of early filmmakers and visual artists. Whether you’re an aspiring creator or simply curious about how technology shapes the arts, this elective offers a unique blend of history, practice, and innovation.

What will I learn?

• Discover how the intricate relationship between artists and technology drives contemporary creative practices worldwide.
• Master essential workflows, cutting-edge digital tools, and practical skills to create professional-quality audio-visual content.
• Develop critical, creative, and independent thinking through a collaborative, practice-based research methodology.

What will I do?

• Participate in weekly online lectures (1 hour) led by experts at the forefront of technology and the arts.
• Engage with curated media, including video/audio recordings and writings, exploring influential technologies, creative works, and performances.
• Collaborate with peers on a final multimedia project that combines your newfound skills in music and video production.

How will this be delivered?

• 11 hours of face-to-face lectures and class discussions.
• 11 hours of online, pre-recorded video tutorials.
• Group work on a final audio-visual project that blends theory with hands-on practice.

Self-directed work includes:

• 30 hours of project and fieldwork (sound and video recording).
• 25 hours of course readings.
• 35 hours mastering media production tools and techniques.
