The Sustainable Procurement Working Group (established by the Provost), created a Sustainable Procurement Policy which was approved by College Board in 2019.

Sustainable Procurement guidelines are available for all staff involved in procurement of services and goods for Trinity.

Trinity has adopted the objective of supporting green procurement practices to reduce resource consumption by eliminating unnecessary purchases and promoting resource sharing, which involves actions including:

  1. Suppliers listed on our e-Catalogue system (Science Warehouse) are requested to provide Social & Sustainability attributes for applicable items. This information helps our purchasers make better-informed purchasing decisions.

  2. Our new Procurement Strategy places Sustainability at its core. This is supported by the updated Sustainable Procurement  Policy. The strategy and policy aim to achieve a behavioural shift from traditional linear purchasing to a circular, resource-efficient model.

  3. Procurement adheres to the National Green Public Procurement (GPP) guidelines and requirements and is fully committed to supporting the Government’s Climate Action Plan.

  4. A minimum 10% sustainability weighting is applied to all Trinity tenders for Goods, Services and Works where relevant and applicable.

  5. Trinity contracts include sustainability elements requiring suppliers to provide their GHG emissions data no later than 12 months after the contract commencement date.

  6. Procurement works with our top suppliers, who account for over 70% of our spend, to measure and track GHG emissions and strengthen our sustainability across our value chain.
