Green Lab Student Interns Wanted 

The Trinity Sustainability Office is seeking two enthusiastic students from STEM or Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) disciplines to join our team as Green Lab Interns. This is a paid internship, typically averaging around 2–3 hours per week, though the exact hours may vary depending on project needs. It’s a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in sustainability within research environments.


Term

We’d love for you to stay with us throughout your student years at Trinity, growing as part of a collaborative team working to make our labs greener and more sustainable.
Minimum commitment: 1 academic year.


What You’ll Do

  • Weekly Team Meeting (50 mins, in-person): Plan goals, share updates, and brainstorm sustainability initiatives.
  • Lab Sustainability Audits: Assess energy use, waste management, chemical storage, and recycling practices.
  • Green Lab Walkthroughs: Engage with lab users, observe practices, and promote eco-friendly behaviors.
  • Awareness Campaigns: Distribute and display sustainability posters in labs.
  • Chemical Inventory Support: Assist labs in updating their inventory using LabCup.
  • Event Support: Help organize sustainability events and campaigns on campus.
  • Ad Hoc Tasks: Contribute to biodiversity surveys, energy-saving campaigns, and other initiatives.
  • Champion Trinity’s Sustainability Goals: Represent Sustainable Trinity values in all your work.

Matthew Murlidar

Green Lab Intern

Matthew is a research-driven international chemistry student with experience across Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, the Czech Republic, and Ireland. He views sustainability as a driver of innovation and continuous improvement toward efficient, low-impact solutions. With strong insight into lab operations and research dynamics, he aims to reduce waste, cut costs, and improve efficiency through practical action, supporting Trinity’s Green Labs initiative and a more sustainable future.

Sienna Wu

Green Lab Intern

Siyao (Sienna) is a Chemical Sciences student at Trinity College Dublin, specialising in Medicinal Chemistry. Interested in chemical biology and drug discovery, she is passionate about aligning scientific innovation with sustainable research practices. With extensive lab experience, she is aware of the resources and waste involved in research. As a Green Lab Intern, she aims to promote efficient workflows and support Trinity’s sustainability goals.
