Cricket Pitch

A hidden-in-plain-sight wildlife hotspot right at the heart of campus. The short, well-managed grass supports worms and clover, attracting feeding birds such as brent geese and oystercatchers in the early morning and at night. During the day, herring gulls, corvids and wood pigeons make use of the area. This activity also draws in local raptors, with kestrels and sparrowhawks regularly hunting over the pitch. It’s a great example of how even highly managed spaces can support biodiversity.
