This week, 602 first-year students in Trinity (known as “Junior Fresh”) received Entrance Exhibition Awards. These awards recognise students who achieved the highest Leaving Certificate points among Trinity entrants from their particular secondary school.
Awardees this year are drawn from all 32 counties of Ireland, along with students who came to Trinity, through the CAO, from 39 countries.
Celebration events took place on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of this week to mark the Entrance Exhibition Awards, and students were invited to join, along with principals from their secondary schools. Addressing the attendees during the week, Linda congratulated the students on their success and expressed gratitude that they had chosen Trinity. “It is our great privilege to welcome these wonderful students to Trinity,” she said.
She also commended all those who have supported the students on their journey to higher education, including parents and guardians, principals and teachers, who play such a vital role in bringing out the best in students during their formative years.
Entrance Exhibitions first came into being in 1870 and have been running in this particular form since 1985. They are a Trinity tradition, and it was brilliant to honour another outstanding group of students from such a wide variety of schools and backgrounds.
