All of the activities below are FREE for Health and Sports Week . Students and staff as well as Sports Centre members and non members are welcome to take part in the activities below. We cater for all levels of ability and fitness.


Monday, 21st March

Time Activity Location
1.00-2.00pm

Launch: Celebrate Smarter Travel. Will have free lunch, the Trinity Belles will sing "I want to ride my bicycle", speeches, prizes galore and free bike lights. More details here.

1.10-1.50pm Free Class - Bootcamp. With thanks to Trinity Sport Fitness Studio
5.10-5.50pm Free class - Power pump. Power Pump is a non-impact strength training class that uses the barbell to target muscle groups. Light weight with high repetitions exhausts the muscles creating lean muscle and a toned physique. With thanks to Trinity Sport. Fitness studio

Mindfulness Meditation - with Karita. Early morning guided meditation session to make you feel calm and energised for your day. Students and staff welcome. With thanks to College Health.

Main Hall
12.30 - 1.00pm Free class - HIIT. With thanks to Trinity Sport. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. Improve overall strength by improving structural balance. HIIT is a full body, cardio based class. Expect to be put through tough but short periods of intense cardiovascular work, followed by frequent and brief periods of recovery. A super-efficient class to maximise calorie burning and maintain muscle mass in as short a time as possible. For maximum benefit please have a weight/kettlebell to hand. Fitness Studio
1.00-1.50pm Prof. Rose Anne Kenny: How to live a happy, healthy life - Do you know what daily habits you should engage in, to live a long, healthy life? Professor Kenny does and she is one of the world's leading scientists on ageing. She will present ideas from her new book, Age Proof: The New Science of Living a Longer and Healthier Life which is a number 1 international bestseller.  Afterwards there will be a Questions and Answers session chaired by Dr. David McGrath, Medical Director of College Health.

Healthy Library - Althletics Club Mini-Sports Day: The Athletics club will run a fun sports day. Spuds, spoons and sacks provided. Bring your own three legged race partner please!

2.15-3.15 Healthy Library - Pilates: Trinity Sport will host pilates for up to 12 people. Give your academic work in the library a boost by doing some exercise while you're there. BLU training room. Book via the Trinity Sport app -Apple, Android
3.00-4.00

Healthy Library - DU Ultimate Frisbee will host a come and try session. Anyone can play. Frisbee is fun and taking an active break will improve your academic performance when you get back to the books. Flat shoes recommended but no special clothes needed.

Mural reveal and Plant Based Coffees Announcement: "What's Local to you?" mural will be unveiled and we will make an annoucement on the Plant Based Coffees initatitive run in the Buttery in February.

3.00-4.00pm Inclusion training:Trinity Disability Service and Trinity Ability co_op are hosting an online workshop on how to adapt sport for people with disabilities. 2.00-4.00pm Inclusive GAA session: Trinity Disability Service and Trinity Ability co_op are hosting an introduction to Gaelic football session in the Ancillary Hall, Trinity Sports Centre. This is open to all students who are interested in playing the sport in a non competitive environment. Anna Galvin, captain of the Kerry ladies GAA Team will be coaching the sessions. Friday, 25th March

8.10-8.50am Free class - Kettlebells and Core . With thanks to Trinity Sport. This workout will get your heart pumping and uses up to 20 calories per minute: about as much as running a 6-minute mile. Combined with bodyweight training you get a complete workout and improve overall wellbeing. Kettlebell required for this class. Ancillary Hall
