Update from Vice Provost / Chief Academic Officer and Director of College Health Service to students

19 January 2023

Dear College community

We look forward to welcoming students back on Monday for the beginning of teaching term.

As you will be aware from recent media coverage, Ireland continues to experience worrying incidences of Covid-19, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and influenza cases. Although mask wearing is not mandatory under the current public health advice, the Chief Medical Officer, Professor Breda Smyth, advises people to wear masks when using public transport, in health care settings and other crowded settings.

With this advice in mind, we strongly encourage you to wear face masks in lectures, tutorials, labs, and libraries. The more people who wear masks in these settings not only reduces the risk of Covid-19 outbreaks but helps protect members of our College community who are medically vulnerable.

Please do not come onto campus if you have any Covid-19 related symptoms. Stay safe by ensuring you are fully vaccinated and have your booster. You can book an appointment here.

With best wishes for a successful and healthy 2023.

Kind regards

Dr David McGrath, Director, College Health Service
