Update from Chief Operating Officer & Director College Health Service to staff

20 July 2022

Dear colleagues,

We are writing to let you know that we are continuing to keep a close eye on the Covid-19 situation. As you will be aware from media reports, there is a renewed wave of Covid-19 in Europe and at home. We all need to act responsibly and take precautions.

The Trinity Living with Covid-19 Oversight Group, chaired by the Provost, met last Monday. We would like to remind you of the following:

Mask wearing

Mask wearing is still advised on public transport and is obligatory in health care settings. You are encouraged to wear masks in very crowded indoor settings.

Staying safe

The best way to stay safe is to ensure you are fully vaccinated and have your booster, and to maintain basic hand and respiratory hygiene. Please do not come to work/college if you are displaying any Covid-19 symptoms. You are encouraged to continue working on a staggered basis on campus if you are doing so already.

Special leave with pay

From 01 July 2022, if you cannot discharge your duties from home or are too unwell to do so, special leave with pay will continue for the duration of the stated self-isolation period only (whatever duration is in place at the time of the absence), currently seven calendar days. A PCR test result or antigen test result registered on the HSE portal along with a completed Covid-19 Self-Declaration Form are necessary to avail of this. For more information, please see here. We will update you at the beginning of the next academic year, and if necessary over the summer.

Kind regards,

Dr David McGrath, Director, College Health Service

An Dr Daithi Mac Craith, Stiúrthóir, Seirbhís Sláinte an Choláiste

Orla Cunningham, Chief Operating Officer
