Update from Provost Linda Doyle to the College Community

21 October 2021

Téacs Gaeilge thíos

Dear College Community

As we head towards Reading Week I wanted to write to you to fill you in on a few things.

I will start by saying that our plan is on course and we are now moving to the second phase.

Thanks to all the hard work by many across our community we will be removing rules around social distancing in teaching spaces and these will operate at full capacity after Reading Week. Timetables are now available on student portals and they reflect these changes. The Library too will be back to operating at full capacity, and this will take effect from tomorrow (Friday 22nd October), in time for Reading Week, with opening hours outlined here

It is important to point out that mask wearing will continue to be mandatory in all of the settings in which it is mandatory now. Personal responsibility is crucial and continuing to adhere to all protective measures such as wearing face coverings, hand washing and cough etiquette is essential. We also continue to encourage people to get vaccinated. It was great to hear that another 500 people attended our pop-up vaccine centre on campus yesterday. And we remind you not to come on campus if you are experiencing COVID symptoms, and to get in touch with the College Health services or your GP who will give you medical advice.

There are still many things that need to be worked out. Next week we will consider how to best streamline the process for approving indoor events, as the latest Government guidelines did not remove all restrictions for these. We will also review the restrictions on accommodation once the current changes have bedded in.

Tomorrow will also see the reopening of College grounds to the public. We know how important Trinity is as a resource for the wider community and it is time for us to do this.

You might also like to know that we will be hosting several commencement ceremonies next week and will of course do so in a way that is safe for all.

To end, I want to thank you for bearing with us. In making any decision there are often strong and heartfelt conflicting concerns. While we always follow public health guidelines, the decision-making is also about balancing these conflicting concerns with the health and wider wellbeing of our community, which is central to all of this.

Wishing you a safe and productive Reading Week.

Linda

A Phobail Ollscoile

Agus sinn ag druidim leis an tSeachtain Léitheoireachta, theastaigh uaim scríobh chugat chun roinnt nithe a chur in iúl.

Ar dtús báire, ba mhaith liom a chur in iúl go bhfuil ár bplean ar an mbóthar ceart agus táthar anois ag bogadh ar aghaidh chuig an dara céim.

A bhuíochas leis an obair chrua go léir a rinne go leor daoine ar fud ár bpobail, beifear ag baint rialacha maidir le scaradh sóisialta i spásanna teagaisc agus beidh cead iad a líonadh tar éis na Seachtaine Léitheoireachta. Tá amchláir le fáil anois ar  thairseacha mac léinn agus tá na hathruithe seo léirithe iontu. Beidh cead an Leabharlann a líonadh arís freisin agus tiocfaidh sé seo i bhfeidhm amárach (Dé hAoine 22 Deireadh Fómhair), in am don tSeachtain Léitheoireachta, agus tá na huaireanta oscailte leagtha amach  anseo.

Tá sé tábhachtach a lua go mbeidh sé éigeantach masc a chaitheamh i ngach ceann de na suíomhanna ina bhfuil sé éigeantach anois. Tá freagracht phearsanta ríthábhachtach agus tá sé riachtanach leanúint de bheith ag cloí leis na bearta cosanta uile amhail clúdaigh aghaidhe a chaitheamh, lámha a ní agus béasa casachta. Leanaimid de dhaoine a spreagadh chun vaicsín a fháil freisin. Ba iontach a chloisteáil gur fhreastail 500 duine eile ar ár dtob-ionad vacsaíne ar an gcampas inné. Agus cuirtear i gcuimhne duit gan teacht ar an gcampas má tá  comharthaí COVID ort, agus teagmháil a dhéanamh le  seirbhísí Sláinte an Choláiste nó le do dhochtúir ginearálta a thabharfaidh comhairle leighis duit.

Tá go leor nithe le réiteach go fóill. An tseachtain seo chugainn, déanfar machnamh ar conas chun an próiseas maidir le himeachtaí laistigh a cheadú a dhéanamh níos éifeachtaí, toisc nár bhain na  treoirlínte is déanaí ón Rialtas na srianta go léir dóibh seo. Déanfar athbhreithniú freisin ar na srianta a bhaineann le lóistín nuair a bheidh na hathruithe reatha leabaithe.

Athosclófar tailte an Choláiste don phobal amárach freisin. Tá a fhios againn cé chomh tábhachtach agus atá Coláiste na Tríonóide mar acmhainn don phobal níos leithne agus tá sé in am dúinn é seo a dhéanamh.

B’fhéidir go mbeadh spéis agat freisin sa nuacht go mbeimid ag óstáil roinnt searmanas bronnta céimeanna an tseachtain seo chugainn, agus ar ndóigh déanfar é sin ar bhealach atá sábháilte do chách.

Ar deireadh, ba mhaith liom buíochas a ghabháil leat as ucht do chuid foighne linn. Nuair a bhíonn aon chinneadh á dhéanamh, is minic a bhíonn imní láidir agus ó chroí ag teacht salach ar a chéile. Cé go leanaimid treoirlínte sláinte poiblí i gcónaí, baineann an chinnteoireacht freisin le cothromaíocht a bhaint amach idir na hábhair imní sin atá ag teacht salach ar a chéile agus sláinte agus folláine níos leithne ár bpobail, rud atá i gcroílár é seo ar fad.

Guitear Seachtain Léitheoireachta shábháilte agus tháirgiúil ort.

Linda
