Responsive nanosystems with disease-specific theranostic potential

This project aims to design stimuli responsive systems based on hybrid nanoparticles that can adapt their response to the biological milieu. This project will develop a novel engineered delivery system consisting of an inorganic porous matrix surface-modified with tumor-targeting ligands and with the ability to sense changes in the tumor environment and react by providing a proportional release. After local implantation, these nanosystems have the potential to serve as a clinical tool for in vivo diagnosis and targeted therapy.
