Start-up funds for new investigators

Start-up grants for newly independent investigators will help new academics generate early results and provide a platform for grant applications to national and international funding agencies such as the ERC, Wellcome Trust, H2020 or equivalent.

This scheme will operate as a competitive funding programme, with start-up packages ranging from €20,000 to €40,000 (inclusive of cofounding from the proposing School). Funding may cover a research assistant or any other specific research costs to enable the research activity to be enhanced and allow accelerated development of further research proposals.

Seed grants in Science and Humanities

These grants will fund the development of a variety of activities in the broad areas of Science, Arts and the Humanities that address issues of human health. A particular focus will be on projects that aim to bridge and link across disciplines.

Grants will fund for instance:

  1. International collaborations that support individual research grant development
  2. Exploratory interdisciplinary research
  3. The development of strategic international partnerships
  4. Workshops and discussion meetings that connect STEM an Humanities
