Dr. Shepherd's published research interests include the Hebrew Bible (esp. the Deuteronomistic History and Ezra-Nehemiah), the New Testament (Aramaic background and the Gospel of John), ancient translation traditions (esp. Aramaic traditions: Targum, Peshitta and Qumran versions) and the Bible and popular culture (esp. the Bible and the Early Cinema).
