HR Online Forms Hub Pilot - HR and Faculty of Health Science

HR in conjunction with IT Services have been working on the development on an Online Forms Hub that will eventually become a central repository for all HR Forms.  The Online Hub will offer all users:

  • Ease of Access  – all forms in one location
  • Ease of Operation – comprehensive support, online tools and guides tailored for requirements of the novice, experienced and ad-hoc user are being made available.
  • Efficient Turnarounds – forms will automatically workflow through approval process

The first form to be made available on the HR Forms Hub is the Staff Request Form.  This particular form offers all staff in the Faculty of Health Science the facility to submit a request for a new post, to request renewal of a contract or to request authorisation to fill a vacant post via an online form.

Ussher Assistant Professors

Trinity College Dublin is hiring 40 new Ussher Assistant Professors before the end of 2016 to support the delivery of the University's new Strategic Plan 2014-19. It is part of Trinity’s strategy to recruit excellent academics in areas where Trinity has proven strengths. For more information please go to our Ussher web page.

TCard Scheme

TCard is the new Trinity College campus card.  Your TCard will enable you to access and pay for a range of services across the campus using the embedded electronic purse. As well as this, your TCard will also be used for your access control, print and copy, and as your Staff identification.

The aim of TCard is to simplify the usage of cards to one campus recognised TCard, for all functions.  The benefits of using your TCard are:

  • No more cash. Obtaining cash from the ATM can be very time-consuming with large queues. Using your TCard can eliminate this unnecessary disturbance.
  • Faster transactions lead to less queues. With no cash exchanging, and counting, using your TCard will improve the flow of customers at points of sale, ensuring minimum waiting times.
  • Discounts and incentives from TCard retailers.

To initialise your Staff ID card as a TCard, please call to the HR Service Centre, House 4, College and we will initialise your Staff ID card for you.  You can then register your TCard online at

HR Service Centre

HR is changing.  Our new Service Centre is now in operation – we encourage you to direct your HR queries to our Service team by phone on +353 1 896 3333, by email on or in person – the centre is located on the Ground Floor of House 4 and is open from 09:00-17.30 (Mon-Thurs) and 09:00-17:00 (Fri) remaining open through lunchtime.

HR People Plans

The HR Partners have been working hard across all Academic Areas, Academic Services Division and the Corporate Services Division to implement people plans.  Progress is going well and they would be happy to engage with any employee on this.

Career Development

Donal Moore has been leading on the Academic Career Development programme in the Faculty of Health Science.  It has been going well and we hope to roll it out to the remainder of the university.  Christine Devlin has been working on Female Career Development support in FEMS which has been well received.

Strategic Partner

The HR Partners provide a wealth of support to the divisions they are based in but their particular strengths lie in strategy.  Strategic Planning workshops have been undertaken within some areas and Cathy Gibson is also running Heads of School HR Networking workshops as a pilot programme in the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Science.

Philip Coffey has been leading the Mentoring project.  A pilot programme is currently underway in the Academic Services Division with a view to expanding it once the pilot is completed and evaluated.

Resourcing Service Level Agreement

The Resourcing Section are proud to announce the implementation of a new Service Level Agreement with the Hiring Lead of each department across the university.  As each new competition is launched, we will be engaging with the Hiring Lead to make our commitment to deliver the competition outlining clear deliverables.  We hope this will benefit all staff and enhance the existing service.

HR Strategy

At Board on 24 June 2015, HR received approval for an ambitious and exciting HR strategy.  The document can be viewed in full at  HR look forward to delivering this strategy and building on the existing services offered to all staff.

Induction Packs

In May 2015, HR successfully closed the Induction Pack for New Starters project. HR Partner Philip Coffey lead this project and worked with colleagues across HR to create a comprehensive document which provides new staff with everything they need to know as they join Trinity.  He also developed an Induction Guidelines for Managers and a Checklist to ensure the new employee is provided with relevant information they need to submit prior to their arrival. These documents are available on the Introduction to New Staff page.
