Global Urbanisation

Urbanisation is a point of intersection for economic, societal and environmental challenges. The bulk of the world’s population now live in ‘urban’ areas, while the future fate of humanity (either utopian or dystopian) is increasingly being tied to the fate of cities. This research group is interested in exploring the set of challenges and possibilities that come from contemporary urbanisation. We are engaged in research that examines how cities are produced, governed, and contested.
