Dr Michelle Share

Senior Researcher

Michelle Share is a Senior Researcher at the Children's Research Centre.
Michelle's role at the centre involves programme evaluation, funding submissions, staff supervision and primary research in child, youth and family issues.
Michelle holds a Masters degree in International and Community Development Studies (Deakin University, Australia) and a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Sociology (Charles Sturt University, Australia). She holds a PhD (University of Ulster funded by Safefood, the Food Safety Promotion Board). Her thesis, 'Risk, responsibility and choice: food and eating in Irish second level schools' examined food provision and education issues amongst students, teachers, parents and caterers in different school types in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
Previously Michelle was employed as a Senior Research Officer for the HSE West in the Division of Population Health. Here she initiated, designed and conducted large-scale programme evaluations involving quantitative and qualitative methods in child and youth settings in relation to smoking, mental health, and school health education. She has also initiated and carried out participatory action research on smoking in mental health settings and has undertaken community food and nutrition research in relation to asylum seekers, children and service providers.
Prior to this appointment Michelle was employed by Charles Sturt University, NSW Australia as Research Contracts Co-ordinator with responsibilities in intellectual property policy development, research management and commercialisation of research.
