That is where this module, Entrepreneurial Action will provide you with an innovative mindset and the ability to think critically - competencies highly sought after to excel in any career.
Whether you plan to start your own business or work for an organisation, having an entrepreneurial mindset can be a game-changer. . This module builds resilience, creativity, and decision-making—essential skills for navigating today’s dynamic job and business landscape.

Learn to recognise and critically assess new social, economic, or cultural opportunities— key for both intrapreneurs and entrepreneurs.

Gain the tools to create a strategic, actionable plan that turns ideas into successful outcomes.
Communicate & Engage Effectively
Develop skills in pitching, stakeholder engagement, and teamwork—crucial for driving innovation in any field.
You will develop skills in:
- Team building and collaboration
- The arts of effective communication and persuasion
- The design of business models to inform actionable venture plans
- Project management, essential for implementing creative ideas
What will I do?
Students should expect:
- In-person, online and independent learning 2-hour classes relevant to the subject area for each week (asynchronous)
- One facilitated workshop to support the mentoring of the group innovation project component
- Ongoing engagement and collaboration with your team on your group project to prepare for the final oral presentation component
- Short post-class tasks to be posted to your personal reflection journal on Blackboard which will help to inform the assessment components
- Engagement with your peers and educators on the Discussion Board
How will this be delivered?
Module content will be delivered through a blend of in-person, online and independent learning methods.
- 22 contact hours (In-person and on-line) including group project presentations
- 25 hours of individual and group assessment preparation
- 45 hours of self-directed Independent Learning, Reading and Reflection
- 8 hours of formative assessment (Online Discussion Boards/Personal Reflective Posts)
In-person group presentations will take place over the last two days of the module and each group will be assigned a maximum of 10 minutes for the presentation and Q&A. This assessment component will be in-person, and all students must attend and present.
How will this be assessed?
There are three assessment components.
- 20% Individual 60-second Elevator Video Pitch -Articulate the unique value proposition of an idea (product, service or policy) designed to influence relevant stakeholder engagement for further idea development
- 40% Group Project Presentation- Outline a potential venture solution for a particular problem opportunity that the group has identified
- 40% Individual Reflective Report (750 words)- Apply structured reflection models to highlight key insights and learnings to your future professional development using SMART goals learned and how they may inform future actions/behavior for positive change

Any student eligible to take a Trinity Elective can select this Trinity Elective
This module is designed for students from all disciplines, offering valuable insights and opportunities regardless of your field of study.
- If you're in STEM, you'll apply technical skills to innovative, tech-driven problem-solving.
- Humanities and Social Sciences students can enhance their analytical, communication, and critical thinking abilities through social entrepreneurship and persuasive pitching.
- Business and Economics students will gain hands-on experience in market analysis, business modelling, and financial strategies.
- Arts students can bring creativity to problem-solving, product development, and storytelling, adding cultural and artistic value to new ventures.
By embracing an interdisciplinary approach, this module fosters diverse perspectives on entrepreneurship and innovation, ensuring an enriching and practical learning experience for all.
This module is a great follow-up for those who enjoyed the Trinity Elective in Design Thinking in Semester 1.
