TCPID Business Partner Workshops

A series of student workshops take place in May every year. These are only available to current students of the Certificate in Arts, Science and Inclusive Applied Practice.

The workshops are designed and developed by our TCPID business partners who also provide student work placements and graduate internships. Students typically have the option to do between two and three workshops each week in May. The final schedule of workshops is provided to all students in April. Some of the workshops will take place online and some will take place in the company offices.

There are a different set of workshops for 1st years and 2nd years.

The aim of the workshops is for students to get to meet with some of our business partners and to learn about the companies and what they do.

The workshops are not a part of the Certificate in Arts, Science and Inclusive Applied Practice course but are provided as an additional resource for students who wish to take part. There is no formal assessment for the workshops, but students will be required to submit a weekly reflection.

The workshops are designed to help students to develop some key skills like the ones listed below which will help for future work placements and for any graduate internships or further courses after they complete their studies in Trinity College:

    • Communication skills • Presentation skills • Office administration skills • Teamwork skills • Research skills • Professional behaviour • Interview skills • Your first employment contract • Budgeting skills • Website design skills

Here is what some of the students have said about previous workshops:

I would like to thank Brenda and Colin in EY so much for teaching us about earning money and managing my wages and tax. Thank you for being so kind and for all the lovely gifts. It was fun.

I would like to thank Elaine in Smurfit Kappa for working with us and for teaching us how to be good at interviews and for giving us confidence in our skills. It was unbelievable.

I would like to say a big thank you to the Squarespace team for the help they give us with the preparation of the website. I thought it was very positive and enjoyable, and also a big thank you for the food it was really tasty. Thank You.

Dear Anthony, Gareth, Paul and Lyn, thank you very much for the workshops in RSA Insurance. I enjoyed my time there especially updating my CV. It was also interesting to learn about LinkedIn. Thank you again for all the time you gave us. It is much appreciated.

Dear Nodlaig, thank you very much for the workshops in Optum. I really enjoyed them, especially presenting the Fundraiser idea. I also enjoyed hearing that Rory McIlroy is one of your Ambassadors. Thank you for all the time you gave us. It is much appreciated.
