Duties of a Fellow
Comply with the terms of the Declaration taken upon admission to Fellowship.
Uphold the Charters, Letters Patent, the Act of 2000, the Supplemental Charter of 2022 and the Statutes.
Conscientiously participate in the exercise of the responsibilities and rights of the Fellows.
Take an informed and active interest in the general life and governance of College.
Seek to ensure that academic values are pre-eminent in the life and workings of College.
Defend the principles of academic freedom and tenure (as defined in the Chapter on Academic Staff).
Engage in academic endeavour, keep abreast of advances in knowledge, carry out research and contribute to scholarship.
Seek to teach in the context of research, and vice versa.
Participate regularly in the Fellows’ affairs, and in particular where possible attend Fellows’ meetings and dine on Commons.
Diligently consider Assent forms.
Play an appropriate part in the administrative and social life of the College, including participating in activities undertaken to enhance the experience of the students in College.
Consider becoming a member of Senate, if not already a Master or Doctor of the University.
Undertake service to the wider community, where appropriate.
Accept the invitation of the Provost to serve as an Officer, unless there is good and sufficient reason to decline.
Act in accordance with applicable College regulations.
