Our Research
The Centre's research spans six interconnected themes. Many of our projects sit across more than one of these themes.
- Science communication: Researching and practising open conversations about science in society.
- Citizen and community science: Knowledge made together, in partnership with diverse publics.
- Teaching and learning science: Science learning in higher education, schools, and informal settings, including initial teacher education and lifelong learning.
- Art-science research and practice. Creative, transdisciplinary inquiry that integrates the arts and sciences. Research into the processes of art-science and other transdisciplinary collaborations, and the public and policy engagement with their outputs.
- Equity and policy. Whose knowledge counts in decision-making, and how science can be more accountable to the communities it affects.
- Engaged research and public engagement across multiple domains of science including:
- Climate, nature, sustainability, biodiversity and related planetary crises
- AI and emerging technologies
- Quantum science and technology
- Astronomy, astrophysics, and space science
- Health and life sciences
- Chemical and physical sciences
