Workshop on 21st Century Skills for Young People
You are invited to join us in a workshop on “Bridging the 21st Century Skills Gap” from 10-12.30 on Tuesday June 13th. This workshop would suit anybody working with young people, from parents to teachers, youth workers and employers. It will be facilitated by the research centre, Learnovate and held in Unit18, Trinity East (Trinity’s Community Unit with access via Macken Street). To participate in the modern world of work we all need an ever-increasing range of skills. Amongst the most important, across all sectors of work, are the so-called 21st century skills such as critical thinking, creative, collaboration and communication. But mastering these skills is difficult – particularly given how the education system is still very academic and exam-based. We'd like your help in uncovering new and innovative ways of helping young people acquire and master these skills. So, join us for a fun and engaging workshop where we will explore the potential challenges in trying to equip young people in the Grand Canal Dock and surrounding communities with some of the key skills they need for the 21st century. Following the workshop and depending on the outcomes and interest, Trinity will explore ways to further support you in working with local young people to enhance their skills, through collaborative projects or other means.
