Trinity Regatta

Date: 18 May 2024 to 19 May 2024 at 00:00 to 00:00
Time: 00:00 - 00:00

Trinity Regatta is an annual regatta first held in 1866 and is the largest sporting event hosted by the university. Originally raced on the Liffey in Dublin’s Docklands, the regatta has been held in Islandbridge every year since 1898, excluding a brief interlude from 1915-1921 as a result of the First World War. An institution of Irish rowing, Trinity Regatta is famed for its thrilling two-lane racing and vibrant social scene. Unlike the 6-lane lane races typical of other regattas, competition takes place along a sweeping 1800-metre stretch of the Liffey, between two crews in straight knock-out clashes. These dramatic contests always prove exciting for the spectator, who may watch an entire race unfold along the tow-path, running the full length of the race course. The regatta draws competitors from all over Ireland and abroad, contributing to a packed racing schedule. In addition to lively racing, spectators can find ample entertainment on offer in the Pembroke Enclosure and Regatta Bar. Regatta Luncheon and Competitor’s Supper are served in the boathouse to ensure guests and crews are well catered to. Current and former Trinity rowers can be seen proudly displaying DUBC colours in their striking blazers, adding to the unique atmosphere of the regatta.
