The Dead Body in Modern Ireland - A Conference
A two-day conference held between Trinity Long Room Hub (Day 1) and Dublin Cemeteries Trust/Glasnevin Cemetery (Day 2) to explore the significance of the dead body in modern Ireland organised by the School of Histories and Humanities in partnership with Dublin Cemeteries Trust. With keynote speakers Dr John Troyer (University of Bath) and Dr Clodagh Tait (Mary Immaculate College, Limerick), this conference examines the relationship between the dead and their communities in the past. With interdisciplinary papers covering a wide variety of themes including funerals, graveyards, institutional burial, archaeology, conflict and Sudden Adult Death Syndrome speakers will be showcasing new research. This is an emerging topic within Irish history and cultural studies and it looks to be an exciting event. The schedule can be found here.
